Duration: 5h Instructor: Alex Altman
Experience Level: All
In Production Sound Fundamentals & Intensive, Alex will discuss the A-Z's of audio with filmmakers who wish to have a deeper understanding of sound on set or anyone who is interested in production sound as a career. We'll start with the basics of what exactly a sound department should be doing on set, and what the priorities of a good sound mixer should be. There will be a hands-on demonstration of all the gear in a sound mixer's kit, including timecode equipment and boom pole technique. By the end of the day, students should have a more comprehensive understanding of why good sound starts at the source and how to achieve it.
About the instructor:
Alex Altman has been a freelance production sound mixer for 13 years and lives in Los Angeles. Originally from Friday Harbor, WA, he moved to Nashville, TN to pursue an education in recording engineering and music business. From there, he soon developed a passion for location sound and the complexities of filmmaking. He has since worked on all seven continents in a variety of formats from music videos to reality tv to feature films, including John & Kate Plus 8, Insecure, Room 104, Full Frontal with Samantha B, The Revenent, and Lady Bird.
